THE POWER OF READING. The Power of Reading is a literacy program designed to encourage families to read together and to foster good reading habits in Thai children with limited access to education or educational resources. According to the Thai National Statistics Office, the overall reading rate among Thais has dropped from 69.1% in 2005 to 66.3% in 2008. Trends show a decline that is disconcerting. As we’ve toured many villages, we noticed a lack of reading materials. Eager children now await our visit as they know they will soon have new books to share with their families and to practice their reading.

With every tour we lead, Window of Thailand will contribute a portion of our profit, as well as donations from our clients, to provide books. In the effort to give back to our community and future generations, The Power of Reading instills the literacy among school children. Amazingly, $10 USD can provide 10 books! This collaborative effort between Window of Thailand and our customers has already made visible changes in our community. Education is a lifelong gift that empowers people to improve socioeconomic conditions for their families and communities.

Our goal is to encourage kids to broaden their imaginations, bring literacy skills to rural communities and to give Thai children a brighter future.
